Santa Rosa City Schools Considering the Return of Student Resource Officers

Santa Rosa City Schools is officially exploring the return of student resource officers. On Wednesday, the district’s board voted to adopt a strategic plan that includes considering the return of the student resource officer program, which went away three years ago.  It ended a 25-year partnership that assigned Santa Rosa police officers to campuses.  The plan also includes increasing safety training, as well as hiring more counselors, campus supervisors, and restorative specialists.  The proposed reforms follow the on-campus stabbing death of a Montgomery High School student in March.
