Sonoma County Approves Controversial School Bus Storage Yard

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is giving final approval to the construction of a controversial school bus storage yard in Santa Rosa. A nearly nine-acre property will have two bus lots on West Robles Avenue and Juniper Avenue. One lot has already been built, but the second lot was challenged by neighbors, who filed an appeal. On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors denied that appeal. The Sonoma County Planning Commission initially approved the project in 1999. The lots will be used to store 110 school buses from the West County Transportation Agency, which serves more than 200 local schools.
