Woman Officially Charged in Hit-and-Run Death in Forestville

A woman accused of hitting and killing an 18-year-old man in Forestville and driving off has been formally charged. On Wednesday, 35-year-old Alyssa Whitten was charged with felony fatal hit and run, vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, driving without a license and destroying evidence. She was arrested at her home in Santa Rosa last Friday, five days after the deadly collision, and two days after police found her SUV on fire on Llano Road, west of the city. Whitten is accused of deliberately torching the SUV.
