Graphic for Petaluma Urban Tree Canopy (City of Petaluma)
The city of Petaluma has received a $1 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expand their urban tree canopy over the next four years. The city will be planting thousands of native trees throughout the city. The project prioritizes low-income areas where there are typically fewer trees. The World Economic Forum says that cities with substantial tree cover possess better health immunity. City Manager Peggy Flynn says that this project would not be possible without Measure U, which was passed by Petaluma in the 2020 election.
