Sonoma County’s low-income residents are struggling to get the latest version of the COVID-19 vaccine. The federal government no longer gives the vaccine to people for free. People with insurance can get their shots through hospital chains, large medical groups, and retail pharmacies. Those without insurance have to rely on health care centers, but centers need to use their own money to buy doses. With each dose costing 100 to 150-dollars, many health care centers say they don’t have enough available funding on hand, even though the money is eventually reimbursed.
