A Windsor High School football player who is suing Cardinal Newman High School is returning to face his old team tonight. Cardinal Newman is hosting Windsor in the championship of the North Bay League’s Oak Division. Windsor co-captain Lonzo Arterberry, who is Black, is suing Cardinal Newman for retaliation. He was kicked off the team then expelled from the school this past March. Arterberry claims he was retaliated against for speaking out about racist and discriminatory comments the head coach made about he and teammates of color. Head coach Richard Sanchez is accused of, among other things, giving players nicknames based on racial stereotypes.
