Santa Rosa Rock Climber Convicted of Sexual Assault

A professional rock climber who grew up in Santa Rosa has been convicted of federal sexual assault charges. A jury has found 39-year-old Charles Barrett guilty of two counts of aggravated sexual abuse and one count of abusive sexual contact. Prosecutors say the victim met Barrett while on a weekend trip to Yosemite National Park for a hike in 2016. Barrett was living and working in the national park at the time, and committed the crimes in the park. He is facing life in prison and a quarter-million-dollar fine when he is sentenced on May 21st.
