Edith Ceccarelli, who was the oldest living person in America and the second oldest living person in the world, has died at the age of 116. Ceccarelli died Thursday afternoon in Willits at the care home where she had lived for the past nine years. Loved ones say she died in her sleep. Ceccarelli, who went by Edie, celebrated her 116th birthday on February 5th. She was also the longest living Californian on record. The current oldest person in the world, Maria Branyas Morera of Spain, turns 117 on March 4th.
