Scene of shooting and chase in west Santa Rosa 3-4-24 (Sonoma Sheriff)
We now know the name of the suspect killed in a shootout and chase with Sonoma County Deputies early Monday morning. Fifty-three-year-old Jose Luis Villasenor Cervantes fired “numerous” large-caliber rounds from an AK-47 at deputies before leading them on a chase through Todd and Stony Point roads that ended with the crash, followed by more gunfire. Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene but an official cause of death hasn’t been released. Four deputies were injured during the pursuit and shootout, including one still in critical condition with a head injury and another with a gunshot wound to the leg.
