Bay Area parents are keeping a close eye on their kids amid a whooping cough outbreak. Health officials issued an advisory as the number of cases in Marin County jumps to 113. More than 65 of them have been at Tamalpais High School since December and efforts are underway to notify everyone who may have been exposed. The highly contagious bacterial disease mostly affects children. Symptoms can show up five to 21 days after infection, with some developing a severe cough lasting weeks or months.
