A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night in Downtown Santa Rosa marking the city’s first homicide of 2024. Around 9:10 PM, gunshots were reported in the 700 block of Slater Street, just a block north of College Avenue. Police arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. Nineteen-year-old Diego Kona Kehuna was arrested at a relative’s home in Elk Grove for the shooting. Police tell the Press Democrat they believe it was a targeted shooting and not gang related.
