A wine event in Healdsburg was disrupted by protesting farmworkers. The Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience was being held over three-days near the city’s downtown Plaza when over 100 farm workers marched nearby the event on Saturday. They demanded higher wages and disaster pay, waiving signs and handing out flyers for their cause. The flyers called for wages of $25 an hour or $250 for each ton of picked grapes. Some of the guests of the experience paid $4500 for the full-slate of events. Part of the funds raised at the event support the Sonoma County Foundation – Voice of the Vineyards, which provides workforce development for vineyard workers and their families.
