The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office shared immigration related information with the Board of Supervisors on Friday. The sheriff’s office recounted their level of cooperation with ICE or U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement. Of the nearly 15,000 bookings in Sonoma County Jail last year, ICE made 492 requests for release information. The Sheriff’s office responded to 72 of those requests. Sheriff Eddie Engram said that access is limited to suspects of serious felonies, such as kidnapping, robbery, sex offenses and felony DUI. Public attendance was under 20 people but all attendees voiced opposition in working with ICE. The meeting was informational and no action was taken by the board.
