Sonoma Specialty Hospital in Sebastopol must repay a loan to the county after it didn’t follow through on a key condition in it’s sale. When the hospital’s owner, American Advanced Management, purchased the hospital in 2019 from Palm Drive Health Care District, it paid $2 million and signed a promissory note worth $1.2 million. That loan was to be forgiven after 10 years on the condition that the hospital maintained an urgent care center. Sonoma County, which inherited the promissory note when the district was dissolved, is now demanding payment of the loan because the hospital no longer has an urgent care center. According to a letter sent on May 7th, the county is seeking $1.3 million, which includes interest on the loan.
