The city of Rohnert Park is looking at a smaller general fund budget for the next fiscal year. Right now, the budget is at a little more than 62-million-dollars, which is about one-point-six-million-dollars less than the budget for the current fiscal year. City officials say the closure of several large retailers in recent months has led to a drop in sales tax revenue. Last November, Reading Cinemas closed after 25 years. More recently, Rohnert Park lost its Burlington, 99 Cents Only and Red Lobster locations. The smaller budget is also connected with the higher costs of labor, goods and services.
