Despite pushback from the community, a popular movie theater in east Santa Rosa will be transformed into Planet Fitness gym. That’s after the city’s zoning administrator approved a permit for the project on Thursday. It spells the end of Summerfield Cinemas, known for showing independent films. It’s unclear when the movie theater will have to close.
