A local student is being honored for her advocacy for students receiving special education services. Amanda Carlile of Santa Rosa has been named the first recipient of the Champion of Inclusion Award by the Sonoma County Office of Education, Common Ground Society, and Sonoma County SELPA. Carlile, a senior at Montgomery High School is the president of the Best Buddies program. Her efforts include organizing events like cooking classes and proms, and volunteering with the Common Ground Society to support these students and their families. The Common Ground Society is a Sonoma County-based nonprofit that advocates for students who receive special education.
