Sebastopol Police Chief Ron Nelson announced his retirement at a Tuesday Sebastopol City Council meeting, marking the end of a 24-year career in law enforcement. He will be the third chief to depart since Sebastopol’s longtime police chief retired seven years ago. Nelson’s last day will be October 26th. Nelson was hired by the city as a lieutenant in 2020 after retiring from a 22-year career with the Santa Rosa Police Department, and was sworn in as chief in November 2022.
