Santa Rosa City Schools Considers District Wide Cell Phone Limits for Students

Santa Rosa City Schools could consider a district-wide policy limiting student cellphone use. That’s what new Superintendent Daisy Morales told the Press Democrat on Wednesday, which marked the start of the school year. Morales says it depends on the results at Santa Rosa and Montgomery High Schools, which have started enforcing a zero-tolerance cellphone policy. Administrators hope it will improve campus culture, improve students’ focus and eliminate disruptions. Governor Gavin Newsom, State Superintendent Tony Thurman and Sonoma County Superintendent Amie Carter are all advocating for school districts to crack down on cellphone use.
