Video of Student Assault at Sonoma Valley High Shared on Social Media

A violent altercation between students at Sonoma Valley High School was captured on video and widely shared on social media yesterday. The incident occurred as students were leaving campus. Sonoma Police Chief Brandon Cutting spoke with KSRO, and said that the assault happened between two students, one from Sonoma Valley High, and the other from a nearby high school. One of the students assaulted the other student, and the entire altercation took about 2 seconds. The female student who was assaulted sought medical attention and appears to be okay today. School officials immediately contacted the Sonoma Police Department, who responded to the scene and made an arrest. Due to the ages of those involved, authorities cannot release names. Police and school officials are working together to address the issue and assure the community that campus safety is a top priority.
