Two Schools Near Petaluma Closed Tuesday Due to Threats

There are no reports of injuries after a lockdown and evacuation of Penngrove Elementary School near Petaluma. Students were rushed into the nearest building after reports of a “possible school threat” came in shortly after 11:30 Monday morning. Students were later reunited with their parents or guardians at the Rancho Adobe Fire District station. Meanwhile, Kenilworth Junior High School, which is about three-and-a-half-miles away from Penngrove Elementary, was placed on a less serious “secure the campus” order. That meant classes continued behind locked doors. The Sonoma County Office of Education says both schools will be closed today. School administrators made the decision to close the campuses, which are expected to reopen tomorrow.
