An 18-year-old man arrested in connection with a shooting in Santa Rosa is also connected with the stabbing that left a Montgomery High School student dead in March of 2023. Juan Carlos Cruz was arrested on Wednesday, at his job in Windsor. Police say he fired two shots at a driver on August 13th. The driver suffered life-threatening injuries but was later released from the hospital. Santa Rosa City Schools says, when Cruz was 16-years-old, he and another student, Jayden Pienta, went into a classroom at Montgomery High School to confront Daniel Pulido. Pienta died after Pulido stabbed him in the chest and back. Cruz suffered minor injuries in the fight. Cruz is facing four felony charges in connection with the August shooting and is due in court today.
