Todd Lands, re-elected to the Cloverdale city council by a landslide, has been chosen by his colleagues to serve as mayor for a historic fourth consecutive term as Cloverdale mayor.
During the December 11 council meeting, Brian Wheeler was also picked to continue his role as vice mayor, and newcomer Mark Laskey joined the council. Despite facing a budget deficit initially estimated at $1 million, the actual shortfall is closer to $500,000. The passage of Measure DD, a three-quarter cent sales tax, is expected to generate an additional $1.66 million annually, helping the city avoid major cuts and fund infrastructure projects. Lands expressed optimism about the positive changes ahead for parks, open spaces, and infrastructure.
