The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is urging drivers to stop speeding.
July is National Speeding Prevention Month & their message is simple: Speeding Catches Up With You. In 2023, nearly 11,800 fatalities involved speeding, accounting for almost a third of all traffic deaths. This isn’t just about the driver; speeding endangers passengers, pedestrians, and bicyclists too. Young drivers and motorcyclists face an even higher risk.
Last year, 37% of male drivers aged 15 to 20 in fatal crashes were speeding.
