Their previous relationship with Adam Lee in Austin took them further than they could have imagined when they hired him as their winemaker. During the interview Roger shared the news of the opening of their new tasting room space in Windsor. I couldn't resist getting the details and reasons for the sale, so I hooked up with, now former owner, Jeffrey House in the Ace In The Hole Pub. As I expected, he was quite forthcoming. Then you'll hear about some holiday wine gift sets that will make it easy to order and receive all the wines you'll need for the coming weeks. Jackson Family Wines' Wines Education Manager, Ben Fine joined me to provide quite an explanation of the wines that are included in the gift sets. Happy Holiday Season!

Some incredible auction lots are being offered that are generated by the power of giving. I'll pass on some of the rare experiences and wine packages that are up for bids later in the recording. RRVW President Clark Lystra fills us in on the details. Then, we'll hear how he and his wife became involved in the wine industry, unintentionally, by purchasing a home with three vineyard acres, the Betty Ann Vineyard. Reportedly, some of the oldest French Colombard vines in Sonoma County grow in that vineyard, dating back to 1900. How could he not get involved in the wine industry?! </googleplay:description>

The topic on this show was the inaugural Cabernet Classic, August 19th-21. This premier event takes place at the Meritage Resort & Spa, and will bring together wine aficionados, Master Sommeliers, industry experts, and world-class wineries to celebrate Napa Valley's king, Cabernet. The Grand Tasting will take place Saturday August 21 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.on the outdoor Vista Collina Event Lawn. To promote the event I spoke with principals of two of the participating wineries, Jay James, the Master Somm at Joseph Phelps Vineyards in St. Helena, and Steve Tonella, President and owner of S.R. Tonella Cellars in Rutherford. Joseph Phelps Vineyards has long been admired as one of the leaders in Napa's modern age. S.R. Tonella Cellars history goes back to the turn of the 20th century when Joseph Ponti emigrated from Italy. Eventually, he would spend 43 years at the iconic Beaulieu Vineyards. Enjoy the show!

On this week's show you'll hear me chat with Mike DeSimone, one of the two World Wine Guys. He's working in partnership with the Prosecco DOC Consortium to promote the 4th Annual National Prosecco week, which starts on Monday. You'll learn quite a bit about Prosecco in preparation of the week ahead. Also, I catch up with Mark Mazzoni of Zialena Winery, outside of Geyserville in Alexander Valley. I first interviewed Mark in 2017 as they were preparing to open the winery. He share's details about his family's long history in the area, and the successes they've enjoyed growing their own winery.
