San Francisco Pediatrician Becomes California’s First-Ever Surgeon General

Governor Newsom is announcing the appointment of the state’s first-ever surgeon general. In a news release issued yesterday, pediatrician Doctor Nadine Burke Harris will focus on combating the root causes of serious health conditions and outreach to young families statewide. Burke Harris is the founder and chief executive of the Center for Youth Wellness in San Francisco. She is a Democrat, and her annual salary will be 200-thousand dollars.
