Two men will stand trial in connection with a deadly shooting outside the Whiskey Tip Bar in southwestern Santa Rosa. The victim, a 27-year-old man, was shot 19 times on September 25th of last year. Evidence was shown to a judge during a two-day preliminary hearing this week. He ruled there was enough evidence to bring the two suspects to trial to face four felony counts. The men are accused of firing a total of 29 gunshots while chasing after the victim.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa Vice Mayor Eddie Alvarez’s name was never mentioned in this week’s preliminary hearing about a deadly shooting outside a bar in Roseland. In January, police served a search warrant on Alvarez in connection with the shooting outside the Whiskey Tip Bar. Alvarez was there that night, but left before the bullets started flying. Police say he’s not a suspect in the shooting, but still haven’t announced why he was served the search warrant. Detectives also seized three of Alvarez’s cellphones as part of their search. One was city property.
