President Trump has granted a presidential pardon to former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Arpaio had been convicted last month of contempt of court for continuing traffic stop programs targeting illegal immigrants after being ordered to stop by a federal judge. A statement from the White House notes Arpaio’s service in the Army and DEA. It says Arpaio is 85 years old, and after more than 50 years of service to the nation, he is worthy of a Presidential pardon.
