Purchasing a Gift Card This Holiday Season? The Better Business Bureau Has a New Warning for You

The Better Business Bureau is issuing a warning regarding a gift card scam that may be swindling shoppers. Thieves are using a scammer at retail stores where cards are left out on racks to write down the card number and pin. Once the card is purchased and activated, scammers can use the number and pin to wipe out the card balance before it’s gifted. The BBB recommends grabbing a card from the back of the rack, examine the card packaging to make sure it hasn’t been tampered with, register your card and don’t buy from a third party.
