A federal judge is ruling PG&E violated the terms of its criminal probation over wildfire safety. The judge in San Francisco yesterday told PG&E lawyers “Safety is not your number one thing.” Despite the harsh criticism, the judge for now stopped short of ordering the utility to move forward with a fire safety plan he proposed, which includes inspection of all 100-thousand miles of PG&E power lines. As required by a new state law, the utility is scheduled to release a detailed fire safety plan next week.
