Governor Gavin Newsom is thanking San Diego nonprofits and city leaders for taking care of asylum seekers.

The Democrat wants the state Legislature to approve 25-million dollars for an Immigration Rapid Response Program to help non-profits and organizations assisting those looking for asylum. He told reporters yesterday California would not be getting involved to help migrants if it wasn’t for the work non-profits have already done. Newsom also accused the federal government of abdicating its moral responsibility and slowing down the asylum review process.
