Some California lawmakers are trying to make it easier for solar power consumers to integrate with the city. State Senator Scott Wiener says to reach the state’s lofty energy goals, policies have to support solar.

SB 288 was announced by Senators Wiener and Jim Nielsen. It proposes an update to methods that make it easier for solar power generators to sell excess energy to their local utility company. Senator Wiener says California individuals and businesses should be given the right to make their own energy choices and should be compensated in a timely manner if they’re giving back. The bill also aims to eliminate policy barriers that make it a hassle for clean energy users to connect to the grid.
