(The following is a press release from Santa Rosa City Schools)
To mitigate the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) through social distancing, Santa Rosa City Schools is suspending in-person classes in all schools, beginning with Spring Break next week, from March 16 through April 5, 2020. All after-school activities, child care, and field trips will also be canceled through April 5th.
This decision was made in collaboration with the Sonoma County Department of Health Services and the Sonoma County Office of Education.
Schools are an essential service and crucial to our communities. Many families rely on schools as a safe place for their children while parents are working, and many students rely on school meals so that they aren’t hungry. Although the situation is changing rapidly, here is some information we can share at this time:
Instruction
Our educators have been working diligently to provide instructional materials for students, both online and in paper format. Principals will be providing more detailed information to families about the process of delivering and returning these materials to students. After Spring Break, March 16- 20, students will complete assignments at home and teachers will continue to work, using social distancing practices, to provide those assignments.
Meals
Carry-out meals will be available for all students, beginning after next week’s Spring Break (March 16-20). Starting March 23, the following sites will provide, for all children under the age of 18, a drive-thru/carry-out lunch service from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm Monday through Friday:
