Cal OES declared a stage three power emergency late Friday night. The outages impacted between 200,000-250,000 Northern California customers. The hot summer heat wave caused too much power to be used, overloading the system. Rolling blackouts will occur lasting between 1-4 hours.

According to a Nixle from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, 42,455 Sonoma County residents are without power at this time, and the number is expected to climb.

A PG&E news release says that customers who lose power should expect it to stay off for about an hour as the system rolls through.
