Sonoma County officials are already pushing for the Yellow Tier, after just one day in the Orange Tier. However, the metrics don’t yet support that move. Officials project that the earliest we could enter that tier would be April 27th provided our numbers improve. Our COVID-19 numbers are plateauing. New cases per day per 100,000 has been stuck in the 4 to 5 range for the past couple of weeks. For the Yellow Tier, that number needs to be under two.
Meanwhile, Sonoma County has received a nice boost in coronavirus vaccine doses.  The county’s vaccine capacity rose from 12-thousand first and second doses to more than 17-thousand according to officials.  That includes 15-hundred doses of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  This comes after the county asked the state for more doses late last month. Over half of the county’s population age 16 and over has had at least one shot of a vaccine.
