A bakery in Healdsburg is one of several restaurants throughout the state suing for reimbursements of business fees during the pandemic.

Costeaux Bakery is suing the county and the state for reimbursement of public health permit and business licensing fees, and the state’s liquor control fees. The attorney representing these restaurants, Brian Kapateck, called the collecting of these fees “significant government overreach” considering these businesses were being limited or shut down. There are restaurants in seven California counties involved in the lawsuit. Costeaux is seeking $25 thousand dollars in unspecified damages.
