Police are releasing the identity of a Sonoma State University student who was killed in a traffic accident in Rohnert Park. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Hugo Ramirez of Cotati was crossing the street on East Cotati Avenue Monday when a car hit him and then drove away. Police say the driver identified as 19-year-old Ronald Gaither from Penngrove later called them to turn himself in. Police say it appears Ramirez did not use the crosswalk at the time of the accident, and that he stepped out in front of Gaither’s car.
