Two men have been arrested for drugs and gun possession from what started as a vehicle pursuit in Santa Rosa. Early Sunday morning, 46-year-old Michael Greene sped away from a traffic stop on Mountain View Avenue. The deputy had asked him to get out of his car as Greene had an arrest warrant for violating his post release community supervision. Greene crashed into a ditch and fled on foot into a field before being apprehended by deputies. Deputies found over 100 grams of methamphetamine in the field and on Greene and arrested him on drug charges, the outstanding arrest warrant, and for providing a false name to an officer. They searched a hotel room in Santa Rosa connected to Greene and found 32-year-old James Merritt carrying a stolen, loaded pistol. He was arrested on gun possession and drug charges. A taser was used twice unsuccessfully on Greene and a couple deputies suffered minor injuries during his arrest.
