A Guerneville mother convicted of sexually abusing her children has been denied parole. 60-year-old Kelly McLaughlin-Cross was seeking to be released from prison on “elder parole.” However, on Tuesday, parole commissioners denied her request and added McLaughlin-Cross would not be eligible to reapply for parole for an additional 5 years. At the end of the hearing the commissioners directed the inmate to complete sex offender treatment, seek further insight into what caused her to perpetrate her crimes, and to work on her accountability. Mclaughlin-Cross was sentenced in 1998 to 162 years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing her young children over a 9 month period with her then-boyfriend Thomas Plimmer who has since died in prison.
