A CDC committee is expected to vote today on who should get Pfizer’s COVID booster shot first. Experts spent time reviewing data yesterday before the FDA approved a third dose. For now, it’ll only be for those 65-and-older, along with people at high risk of severe symptoms, and workers who are frequently exposed. If approved, about 135-thousand Sonoma County residents could be eligible for booster shots starting next week, that estimate coming from the Sonoma County health department. Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase says that while the booster shot is appropriate to get, she urges the public to please wait your turn and those who are currently vaccinated are still protected.
