The euthanizing of a cat in Petaluma is leading to a lawsuit against North Bay Animal Services. The suit alleges that animal control officers from North Bay Animal Services, who run the Petaluma animal shelter, found the 18 year old cat named Kaytie in December of 2020. They took it in and euthanized it within hours as the shelter determined it was suffering. The cat’s owner, Mark Kimberly, said he wasn’t notified that the shelter had Kaytie until after she was euthanized and argues that the shelter unnecessarily put down his cat. A trial date has been set for January 4th, 2022.
