Water rate hikes are likely coming to Rohnert Park. Tonight, the city council will vote on a proposed water rate adjustment which could bring an annual increase of 5% for each of the next five years. The council must alert anyone affected at least 45 days before holding a public hearing on the matter. After which, the city can implement a rate hike, provided that no more than half of the parcels affected protest the increase in writing. Lowest water users would see a bill increase of 2.6%, average users, 6.1%, and high water users 6.4%. The average high-use single-family customer would see a monthly bill increase of less than $9.
