Santa Rosa Councilman Jack Tibbetts is elaborating on his decision to resign. Speaking on The Drive yesterday, Tibbetts said it just boiled down to being a good husband and new father.
“I work at pretty close to capacity between my day job operating St. Vincent De Paul and, also, the work we put in on the council,” said Tibbetts “There’s just not enough hours in the day, unfortunately, to do both of those things and also be a present father.”
When asked, Tibbetts did briefly address the fact that city councilmembers don’t get a full time salary and how it effects younger people wanting to get involved with politics.
“I think in the recent election cycles, you’ve seen a lot of young people step forward and want to fight and make decisions and change policy. I just think if people want to see more youth, more diversity, this is gonna have to be something that eventually happens.”
Councilman Tibbetts said he is thankful for the support from his backers over the years and that he doesn’t intend to get back into politics anytime soon.
