The state’s secretary of the Government Operations Agency is resigning. “Vaccine Czar” Yolanda Richardson is leaving her position with the Newsom administration to head up San Francisco’s Medi-Cal program. Richardson was appointed in January 2020 and led the state’s pandemic response efforts. She also helped state agencies transition from in-office to remote work, obtain personal protective equipment, and COVID-19 testing materials. Governor Newsom also asked her to lead a team tasked with fixing bottlenecks affecting the distribution of unemployment checks. Her last day on the job will be March 2nd.
