A new slaughterhouse is open for business in Marin County. The meat processing plant is a project sponsored by the Bay Area Ranchers Co-op. The exact location of the site is undisclosed to keep animal rights protesters away. The Marin Independent Journal reports that Jenny Moffitt with the U.S. Department of Agriculture visited the processing site. She says the USDA is supportive of efforts to establish meat processing sites dedicated to local and regional needs.
