Governor Gavin Newsom wants to designate another $110-million towards Covid-19 testing and vaccinations for those migrating from Mexico to California. This would be part of his two-point-seven-billion-dollar Covid-19 response package in the upcoming 2022-2023 budget. Andy Carey, executive director of the U.S.-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership says there’s a lot of money that’s been set aside for services in the U.S., but the problem is still largely on the other side of the border where many asylum seekers have been denied entry to the U.S. Those who support the Governor’s proposed funding say more needs to be done for migrants waiting in Mexico.
