El Recreo Map Location (Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District)
A conservation deal has been reached for a 289-acre ranch adjoining Hood Mountain Park. The Press Democrat reports that the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District is about to purchase El Recreo for $898,000 as part of a conservation easement 9 years in the making. The easement means any future development of the land would be prohibited, even if sold in the future. The property will not be opened to the public but will remain available for private use by the families that owned it. El Recreo was burned in the 2017 and 2020 wildfires and has been slowly recovering since then.
