California Shoppers to Pay for Recycling Wine and Liquor Bottles

The state is expanding its recycling law to add wine and liquor bottles. Shoppers will have to pay ten-cents extra for each one starting in 2024. But they’ll get that money back if they turn in the bottle at a recycling center. If they toss it, the city will get the dime when it recycles. Only about 30-percent of glass bottles are currently recycled. All will be required to have a “California Redemption Value” logo on labels by the summer of 2025.
