California is about to become the world’s fourth largest economy. A new report from Bloomberg says California is on track to pass Germany in 2023, just six years after passing the UK as the fifth largest, leaving it only behind Japan, China and the rest of the United States. The Sacramento Bee says the report shows corporate revenues are up 147-percent, and market capitalization is up 117-percent over the last three years, led by technology, software and media. Bloomberg says Germany’s 2022 GDP is dropping, while California’s gross domestic product is growing this year. Critics say while California may be on pace for the fourth largest economy, when cost of living is factored in, that ranking drops to 11th.
