One person has been arrested after assaulting two people inside a vehicle parked at the Best Western in Petaluma. On Thursday morning, a man parked his truck behind a car in the parking lot, then approached the car where he confronted two people visiting from Sweden. He accused them of coming from of his hotel room. The suspect, 27-year-old Kyler Udell, entered the car and assaulted both victims, knocking one unconscious and the breaking the nose of the other. Udell may have held both victims inside their car for almost an hour while he assaulted them, took their cellphones, and demanded they open the contents of their phones to him. A hotel employee checking the parking lot saw the victims in the backseat of the vehicle and called 911. Officers responded and detained everyone initially while they tried to figure out what had happened. Udell was charged with robbery, false imprisonment, and battery resulting in a serious injury. Both victims were transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital.
